Dr. Julie London

Originally from Annapolis, MD, Dr. Julie London moved to Florida after receiving her undergraduate degree from Towson University. There, she worked in state government to protect Florida’s coastal environment before switching gears to veterinary medicine. She worked for two years as a veterinary assistant. After this, she was accepted to veterinary school.

Dr. London graduated from the University of Florida (Go Gators) where she earned joint degrees in Veterinary Medicine and Public Health. After graduation, her husband’s job (AD military) took them to the central coast of California, where she worked as a general practitioner in a busy general-practice/ER small-animal clinic. Eventually, her husband’s work moved again, this time to Washington, DC – she joined the District Veterinary Hospital team in March 2018. Military assignments have changed twice more in the years since, including a tour in Puerto Rico and one in Cape Cod, MA.

Dr. London’s favorite part about being a veterinarian is teaching and promoting a good quality of life, for patients, clients, and clinic staff. She knows veterinary medicine can be tricky because we have to combine people, pets, finances, and emotions, which can make for some stressful times. Dr. London is passionate about educating owners so that they understand the approach to their pets’ health. She works hard to unify the clinic-owner team to achieve the best possible outcomes for our furry loved ones. In the clinic, Dr. London cares deeply about staff well-being as well as effective utilization of an individual’s skills and talents.

Being a veterinarian is only one facet of Dr. London’s life. Outside of work, Dr. London stays busy with competitive ballroom dancing and racing J22s. She also enjoys classical ballet, yoga, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, skiing, hiking/backpacking, bird-watching, reading, watercolor painting, and sewing ballroom dresses/costumes, as well as ready-to-wear items. If she could be anywhere in the world, at any given time, it’d be at a quiet beach-front pool, someplace warm and sunny, with a good book.

Fun fact: Dr. London is allergic to dogs and cats!

Dr. London is not currently in the DC Metro area, but provides Telehealth consults for District Vet.
